About DeadCellZones.com

DeadCellZones.com is an open database of wireless cell phone coverage complaints. The web site is dedicated to identifying areas within the United States and Canada where cellular phone calls are frequently dropped or where cell phone service is not available.  Founded in 2001,
Dead cell zones has rapidly become the "Wiki" of wireless coverage complaints.  This term "wiki", means internet collaboration and that anyone can edit, correct, or improve information in our database.  It is our mission to report these coverage complaints to wireless carriers to more effectively address these problems. We believe seamless wireless coverage can be achieved if carriers simply listen to their customers and prioritize network upgrades based frequency of complaints.

How Do I Submit A Coverage Complaint?

We ask our database contributors to submit specific intersections where a dropped call is expected -- the infamous "I'm going to lose you in a second..."  Submit Here  The web site has received over 100,000 complaints since the web site was founded in 2001. However, the web site only maintains fresh records and currently has 18,000+ searchable dead cell zone coverage complaints in its' database Starting in early 2006 the web site has started getting feedback on its' consumer complaints from the carriers themselves and provides this data on the web site.  Carriers provide feedback on our data when they have made network upgrades or when they have planned improvements. See Carrier Updates

Why DeadCellZones.com was Created?

Our research has determined that cellular consumers are frustrated when they consistently experience areas with poor cellular coverage. The cellular industry has grown rapidly but service in many areas of the U.S. continues to be inconsistent.  Some carriers are starting to provide coverage maps down to the street level of how well their service works. However, carriers do not provide their customers with an easy and simple way to submit network problems and gaps that are inconsistent with their maps.  Please note that our web site is not designed to compare coverage before buying a phone.

What's Next?

Based on our customer feedback we are providing a new service to improve carrier feedback on network upgrades to consumers.  We encourage all carrier network operations centers to download the data from our web site and use it to fix problem areas.  When these areas have been repaired please send us your comments.
